For almost three years, I have taken a morning walk and sketched something that has caught my eye. This daily practice has shown me the power of capturing images over time and the value of letting ideas evolve slowly and show themselves in small moments.

Below are the original paintings inspired by these sketches available for purchase on Thursday, July 15th at 3 pm CST. Each painting is shown in both a black and brown frame. You get to choose which colored frame is best for your home.

There’s something about a single line that can capture so much. There’s really no need for anything else. 

My morning walks have taught me that wherever I am, nature surrounds me. I am always part of it.

I’ve found that if I give myself just a little bit of time and focus, the natural world reveals her magic to me. I usually find something minimal that most people walk past. I take great pride in discovering and documenting my discoveries.

Keeping the paintings minimal accentuates the essence of what I’ve found on my walks. Often, using the most limited of means can lead to the most beautiful results.

I’ve watched the raw part of nature, too. I’ve seen nature adapt to her surroundings like a flower bending and twisting to find the sun. We can adapt just like that flower because we are nature, too. We have all adapted and transformed perhaps more than we ever thought possible in the last year with the pandemic.

As I’ve been walking and finding for almost three years, I’ve noticed plants changing from season to season. I know, this is not a groundbreaking discovery. Of course, plants change, but I had not really noticed the nuances of this before. By observing nature’s cycles, I can more easily accept the natural disruptions and changes in my own life.
